Floral Section (not judged under NDS rules)

31. A container, vase or bowl of dahlias to contain not less than 12 blooms, staged for all-round effect. Any foliage may be used. To be judged on the basis of quality, freshness, floral effect and col-our vibrancy. The oversize rule does not apply in this class. Space allowed 3 ft.

32. Basket of dahlias. To contain not less than 18 blooms to be staged for frontal effect. Any foliage may be used. Space allowed 3ft.To be judged on the basis of quality and freshness, floral effect and colour vibrancy.

The oversize rule does not apply in this section. (due to the possible use of oversized blooms in the Floral section no medals will be awarded )

Ivor Kitchener Seedling Class

Only for blooms produced from seed supplied by Mr I Kitchener and purchased from Welsh Dahlia Society.

44. Best specimen bloom for be judged both for exhibition and garden qualities. (entry free this class)

45. Photograph of seedling. Due to the nature of this section photographs of blooms not available for show will be judged for potential. (entry free this class)

Prize money classes 44. 45.

1st. £10.00, 2nd £6.00 3rd. £4.00

Seed and instructions can be obtained while stock lasts from the Welsh Dahlia Society.

  RULES

1. All entries for class1 must be in the Show Secretary’s hand by 10-00pm on Friday 27th. of August. Additional entries from those who have already entered, will be accepted in classes available. other than Championship (class 1) on the morning of the show between 9:00am – 10:00 am provided room is All exhibitors must leave the hall by 10:00am. Judging starts at 10.15 am.

 2. Entries will be accepted on the day if enough room is available at the discre-tion of the Show Manager.

3. The hall will be open for staging of exhibits from 10.00pm on Sunday 29th. August to 10.00am on Monday 30th August.

4. All exhibits must have been grown by the exhibitor.(except floral section)

5. Exhibits must not be removed until instructed to do so by the Show Manager,

6. All exhibits shown at owners risk.

7. All objections must be made in writing to the Show Manager by 2-30pm on the day of the show, accompanied by a £5-00 deposit, this will be forfeited if the objection is not sustained. The decision of the Show Committee will be final.  All trophies are perpetual and remain the property of the Welsh Dahlia Society, all trophies must be signed for, and must be returned by the 31of July. Until returned all trophies are the responsibility of the exhibitor, and any cost incurred by  the society to repair and/or replace any trophy will be sought from the exhibitor.

8. All exhibits (except for Floral Section )will be judged to the current NDS rules, in the latest edition of the classified directory.

9. The presentation of trophies will take place as early as possible, on the day of the show in the Dahlia hall.

10. The Society will not be responsible for any loss of property, or injury sustained whilst exhibiting or visiting the show. "This does not affect your statutory rights".

11. The prize money will be paid out by the Treasurer within 21 days

12. Only Society vases to be used within this show. For Container,Bowl or Basket classes the exhibitor must provide their own.( limited number  available to visitors outside the region.)  

13. Class cards will be issued and must be placed face down under the vase,Only Society cards for naming varieties to be used.

14. The Welsh Dahlia Executive Council reserve the right to decide  on any point of dispute not covered by these rules their decision shall be final

15. By submitting, any entry form the exhibitor must agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the society, and must sign the entry form. All Cheques payable to the Welsh Dahlia Society.
